The bed posts are made out of Mahogany driftwood which has been in contact with the sea water for several years thus hardening the wood to almost stone. This rare hardwood is usually obtained from bays which are not inhabited or hardly frequented by locals along the Kenya and Tanzania coastline. Amazingly by nature the longer the wood stays in salt water the harder it becomes and it is also naturally treated against any termites or any other wood insects.
